Robert F. Kennedy was born on November 20, 1925, in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was the seventh child of Rose and Joseph P. Kennedy. His siblings were Eunice, Jean, Rosemary, Kathleen, Joe Jr., and Patricia. Kennedy attended private schools growing up. He graduated from Milton Academy in 1943 and then went on to Harvard University. After two years at Harvard, Kennedy enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.
After the war, Kennedy returned to Harvard and graduated in 1948. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law, graduating in 1951. Kennedy began his career as a lawyer in the Justice Department. In 1952, he married Ethel Skakel. The couple had 11 children together.
In 1960, Kennedy was elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts. He served in the Senate until 1964, when he resigned to run for president. Kennedy was assassinated in 1968 while campaigning for president.
At the time of his death, Kennedy had a net worth of $30 million.
