William T. Stromberg is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of the investment firm Marathon Asset Management.
Stromberg was born in New York City, New York, on December 6, 1960. He is the son of William and Mary Stromberg. He has two brothers, Robert and John.
Stromberg graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1983. He began his career as a research analyst at Drexel Burnham Lambert. In 1985, he joined Goldman Sachs as a vice president in the mergers and acquisitions department.
In 1992, Stromberg left Goldman Sachs to co-found Marathon Asset Management. Marathon is a global alternative investment firm with approximately $24 billion in assets under management. The firm has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Stromberg is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York City Ballet and the Lincoln Center Theater. He is also a trustee of the American Museum of Natural History and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
