Belushi was born James Adam Belushi on June 15, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to Agnes (née Samaras) and Adam Anastos Belushi, immigrants from Albania. He has two older brothers, John and Billy, and a younger sister, Marian. His father owned a restaurant and his mother was a homemaker. He attended Wheaton Community High School and College of DuPage.
Belushi began his career as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the early 1980s. He went on to star in the films Trading Places, Little Shop of Horrors, Red Heat and The Blues Brothers. He also starred in the television sitcoms According to Jim and Saturday Night Live.
