Sergio Agüero is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Argentine national team. He is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation, and has been described as one of the best strikers in Premier League history.

Agüero began his career at Independiente, where he made his professional debut at the age of 15. He spent five years at the club, scoring 23 goals in 122 appearances, before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2006. He spent four seasons at Atlético, scoring 101 goals in 234 appearances, winning the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2010. In July 2011, Agüero transferred to Manchester City for a fee of £38 million, making him the most expensive Argentine footballer in history.

Agüero has won numerous individual and team awards, including the Premier League Golden Boot (2014–15), the Premier League Player of the Season (2014–15), the PFA Players’ Player of the Year (2014–15), and the FWA Footballer of the Year (2014–15). He has also been included in five FIFA World XI squads and four UEFA Team of the Year squads.

Born in Buenos Aires, Agüero began his career at Independiente. He made his debut at 15 years old, becoming the youngest player to play in the Argentine Primera División and breaking Diego Maradona’s record. He spent five years at Independiente before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2006. In his first season at Atlético, he helped the team win the UEFA Europa League, and was voted as the best player in the competition. In September 2012, Agüero scored a last-minute goal against Queens Park Rangers, which resulted in City winning their first Premier League title. Agüero has represented Argentina at senior level since 2006. He has participated in four FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018) and three Copa América tournaments (2007, 2011 and 2015). He has also represented Argentina at two Olympic Games (2008 and 2012), winning a gold medal at each tournament.
