Rick Steiner is an American professional wrestler, actor and businessman. He is best known for his time with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he was a one-time United States Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WCW World Tag Team Champion and a one-time WCW World Television Champion. He has also wrestled for Jim Crockett Promotions, the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Steiner was born on July 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. He is the youngest of three children. His father, Richard Steiner, was a high school teacher and his mother, Nancy Steiner, was a homemaker. He has two older sisters, Pam and Susan. Steiner graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School in 1979. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he studied business administration and played football as a defensive lineman. He graduated from Michigan in 1983 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Steiner began his professional wrestling career in 1984, wrestling for various independent promotions in the Midwest United States. In 1985, he began wrestling for Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP), which was later renamed World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He wrestled in JCP’s Mid-Atlantic territory and also competed in the company’s tag team division with his brother Scott Steiner. In 1988, the Steiners won the NWA World Tag Team Championship. They held the title for nearly six months before losing it to The Road Warriors.

In 1989, Rick Steiner signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He wrestled in the WWF’s tag team division with Scott Steiner. The Steiners won the WWF Tag Team Championship in 1990. They held the title for four months before losing it to Demolition. In 1991, Rick Steiner left the WWF and returned to WCW.

In 1992, Rick Steiner won the WCW World Television Championship. He held the title for four months before losing it to Sting. In 1993, he formed a tag team with his brother Scott Steiner and they began competing in the WCW World Tag Team Division. The Steiners won the WCW World Tag Team Championship in 1993 and held the title for four months. They lost the title to The Nasty Boys.

In 1994, Rick Steiner won the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. He held the title for two months before losing it to Sting. In 1996, he and Scott Steiner won the WCW World Tag Team Championship for a second time. They held the title for four months before losing it to The Outsiders.

In 1997, Rick Steiner left WCW and joined Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). He wrestled in ECW for six months before returning to WCW in 1998. In 1999, he left WCW again and joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He wrestled in the WWF’s tag team division with his brother Scott Steiner. The Steiners won the WWF Tag Team Championship in 2000. They held the title for four months before losing it to Edge and Christian.

In 2001, Rick Steiner left the WWF and returned to WCW. In 2002, he left WCW and joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). He wrestled in TNA’s tag team division with his brother Scott Steiner. The Steiners won the NWA World Tag Team Championship in 2003. They held the title for four months before losing it to America’s Most Wanted.

In 2004, Rick Steiner left TNA and returned to WCW. In 2005, he left WCW and joined Ring of Honor (ROH). He wrestled in ROH’s tag team division with his brother Scott Steiner. The Steiners won the ROH World Tag Team Championship in 2006. They held the title for four months before losing it to The Kings of Wrestling.

In 2007, Rick Steiner left ROH and joined All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). He wrestled in AJPW’s tag team division with his brother Scott Steiner. The Steiners won the AJPW World Tag Team Championship in 2008. They held the title for four months before losing it to Keiji Mutoh and Taiyo Kea.

In 2009, Rick Steiner left AJPW and returned to the United States independent circuit. In 2010, he joined forces with his brother Scott Steiner and they began wrestling for various independent promotions in the United States.

Rick Steiner is married to Pam Steiner and they have two children together; a son named Richard Jr. and a daughter named Paige.
