Marcia Strassman (born April 28, 1948) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Julie Kotter on the ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975–1979) and as Diane Szalinski in the Disney films Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) and its sequel, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992).
Strassman was born in New York City, the daughter of Alice (née Kanner), a homemaker, and Ray Strassman, a businessman. She has two sisters, Mindy and Doreen. Strassman was raised in a Jewish household.
Strassman began her acting career in regional theater productions in New England. She made her television debut in an episode of the CBS soap opera Love of Life in 1974. The following year, she landed her first major role as Julie Kotter on the ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975–1979).
Strassman’s film credits include The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), Freaky Friday (1976), The Devil’s Rejects (2005), and Big Miracle (2012).
In 1989, Strassman played the lead role of Diane Szalinski in the Disney film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. She reprised her role in the 1992 sequel, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.
Strassman has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Mark Freedman; they divorced in 1977. She married actor Robert Desiderio in 1982; they have two daughters, Molly and Lily.
Strassman currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
