Will Mellor is an English actor, comedian, radio and television presenter. He is best known for his roles as Gaz Wilkinson in the Channel 4 comedy-drama series Hollyoaks and as Jamie Mitchell in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Mellor was born in Salford, Greater Manchester, on 4 August 1976, the son of Sheila Mellor (née Jackson) and Keith Mellor. He has two older sisters, Tracy and Michelle. Mellor was educated at Walkden High School.
Mellor’s first acting role was in the children’s television series Dramarama in 1987. He went on to appear in a number of other television programmes, including Coronation Street, Where the Heart Is, The Bill and Casualty. His first major role was as Gaz Wilkinson in Hollyoaks, which he played from 1995 to 1997.
Mellor’s other television credits include playing Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders (2001-2002), Dave Lister in the BBC comedy-drama Red Dwarf (2009-2012), and Jase Dyer in the ITV2 comedy-drama Broadchurch (2015).
Mellor has also appeared in a number of films, including 24 Hour Party People (2002), Kidulthood (2006), and The Inbetweeners Movie (2011).
