Verónica Castro is a Mexican actress, singer, and producer. She is one of the most successful and popular entertainers in Mexico and Latin America. She has starred in over fifty films and television shows, and has sold over twenty million records.

Born in Mexico City on October 19, 1952, Castro is the daughter of Mexican actor Ramón Castro and his wife María Eugenia Alatorre. She has four siblings: Ramón, María Eugenia, Enrique, and Alejandro. Castro began her career as a child actress, appearing in a number of Mexican films and television shows. She made her film debut in the 1959 film “Niños Perdidos”.

In the early 1970s, Castro achieved great success with her role in the telenovela “Los Ricos También Lloran”. The show was a huge hit in Mexico and throughout Latin America, and made Castro a household name. She followed up her success with the lead role in the telenovela “La Madrastra”.

In the 1980s, Castro starred in a number of successful films, including “Cambio de Sexo” and “La Hora Marcada”. She also released several successful albums, including “Verónica” and “Mujer de Nadie”.

In the 1990s, Castro starred in the telenovelas “Alcanzar una Estrella II” and “Azul”. She also appeared in the films “Tango Bar” and “El Último Grito”.

In recent years, Castro has continued to appear on television, starring in the telenovelas “La Fuerza del Destino” and “Porque el Amor Manda”. She has also appeared in a number of stage productions, including “La Cage aux Folles” and “The Vagina Monologues”.

Castro has been married three times. Her first husband was Mexican actor Manuel Valdés; the couple divorced in 1977. Her second husband was Cuban singer-songwriter Roberto Ledesma; the couple divorced in 1985. Her third husband is Mexican businessman José Luis Abarca; the couple has been married since 1996.

Castro has three children: Cristian Castro (born 1974), Michelle Salas (born 1982), and Gabriel Soto (born 1984).

Castro is considered one of the most important figures in Mexican entertainment. She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two Ariel Awards, two TVyNovelas Awards, and a Latin Grammy Award.
