Skeme is an American rapper from Inglewood, California. He is signed to TDE, and is a member of the rap group Black Hippy, alongside Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul.
Born and raised in Inglewood, Skeme first started rapping at the age of 14. He was inspired by the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg, and would often freestyle with his friends. He released his first mixtape, “The Statement”, in 2009. The mixtape caught the attention of TDE president Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, who signed him to the label in 2010.
Skeme has released three studio albums: “Ingleworld” (2013), “Ain’t Safe” (2015) and “Overdue” (2018). His music has been described as “a mix of West Coast gangsta rap and East Coast lyricism”. He has collaborated with a number of artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Dom Kennedy, Nipsey Hussle and Wiz Khalifa.
