Shaggy 2 Dope is an American rapper, record producer, and professional wrestler. He is a founding member of the hip hop group Insane Clown Posse. Shaggy 2 Dope has released six solo albums, and has produced two albums for other artists. His latest album, F.T.F.O.M.F., was released in 2017.
Shaggy 2 Dope was born Joseph William Utsler on October 28, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan. His father, Joseph Utsler, Sr., was a car salesman, and his mother, Kathleen Utsler, was a stay-at-home mom. Shaggy 2 Dope has three older brothers, John, Keith, and Jerry. He also has two younger sisters, Lisa and Amy.
Shaggy 2 Dope attended Lincoln Park High School in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was a member of the wrestling team, and was also active in the drama club. After high school, Shaggy 2 Dope attended Oakland Community College.
In 1989, Shaggy 2 Dope met Joseph Bruce, better known as Violent J, at a local music store. The two became friends and began making rap music together. In 1991, they formed the group Inner City Posse. The following year, they released their first album, Carnival of Carnage.
In 1993, Inner City Posse changed their name to Insane Clown Posse. That same year, they released their second album, Ringmaster. The album was a commercial success, selling over a million copies.
In 1997, Insane Clown Posse released their fourth album, The Great Milenko. The album was pulled from stores after only a few days due to its controversial content.
In 2000, Insane Clown Posse released their fifth album, Bizaar. The album was another commercial success, selling over two million copies.
In 2002, Shaggy 2 Dope released his first solo album, F.T.F.O.M.F. The album was a commercial success, selling over three million copies.
In 2004, Shaggy 2 Dope released his second solo album, Haters Beware. The album was a commercial success, selling over four million copies.
In 2009, Shaggy 2 Dope released his third solo album, F’d Up Fairytales. The album was a commercial success, selling over five million copies.
