Sanaa Lathan is an American actress and voice actress. She has starred in many films, including Love & Basketball, The Best Man, The Wood, Blade, AVP: Alien vs. Predator, The Perfect Guy and The Family That Preys. Lathan was born on September 19, 1971 in New York City, to African-American parents. Her father, Stan Lathan, is a television director and producer, and her mother, Eleanor McCoy, was an actress and singer. She has two brothers, one of whom is actor/director Steve Lathan. Lathan was educated at the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied English and drama.

After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Lathan’s first film role was in the 1998 film Blade. She has since starred in a number of films, including Love & Basketball, The Best Man, The Wood, AVP: Alien vs. Predator, The Perfect Guy and The Family That Preys. Lathan has also appeared in a number of television shows, including NYPD Blue, ER, Nip/Tuck and American Horror Story: Coven. In addition to her acting career, Lathan is also a successful voice actress.

She has lent her voice to a number of animated films and television shows, including The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, The Cleveland Show and Family Guy. Lathan has been nominated for a number of awards, including an NAACP Image Award, a BET Award and a Satellite Award. She has also won a NAACP Image Award and a BET Award.
