PMD (born August 13, 1967) is an American rapper and record producer. He is best known as one half of the duo EPMD, with Erick Sermon.
PMD was born in Brentwood, New York. His parents were both African American. He has two sisters and one brother. PMD attended Brentwood High School. He was a member of the track team and played football.
After high school, PMD attended Adelphi University on a track scholarship. He ran track for one year before quitting to focus on his music career.
PMD began his music career as a DJ. He later met Erick Sermon and the two formed the duo EPMD. The duo released their debut album, Strictly Business, in 1988. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 46 on the Billboard 200 chart.
EPMD released four more albums before disbanding in 1992. PMD then embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, Business Never Personal, in 1992. The album peaked at number 55 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In 1996, PMD reunited with Erick Sermon to form EPMD again. The duo released their fifth album, Back in Business, in 1997. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
EPMD has since released two more albums, We Mean Business (2008) and Out of Business (2019).
PMD has also released three solo albums, Shade Business (2000), Business is Business (2004), and Business Mentality (2017).
