After high school, Colston attended Hofstra University, where he played wide receiver for the Hofstra Pride football team. He set school records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions. Colston was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played for the Saints for ten seasons, from 2006 to 2015. During his time with the Saints, Colston was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and set franchise records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions. He was also a member of the Saints team that won Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.
