He is best known for his role as Dr. Harold Bauer on the medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy” (2005-2010), and for his role as Charles Miner on the political drama series “The West Wing” (2006-2007). Tennon has also appeared in the films “Django Unchained” (2012), “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” (2013), and “Lila & Eve” (2015).

Tennon was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 4, 1954. His parents were both African American. Tennon was raised in a single-parent household by his mother, who worked as a domestic worker. Tennon has two older sisters. He attended high school in St. Louis, and then went on to study at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
