Glenn Danzig is an American singer, songwriter, and musician from Lodi, New Jersey. He is the founder of the bands Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He has also worked as a producer, screenwriter, and actor.
Danzig was born on June 23, 1955, in Lodi, New Jersey, to a Jewish family. His father was a truck driver and his mother was a homemaker. He has two older sisters.
Danzig began his musical career in the mid-1970s, playing in a number of local bands in New Jersey. In 1977, he founded the punk rock band the Misfits. The band released a number of EPs and singles before breaking up in 1983.
In 1984, Danzig founded the horror punk band Samhain. The band released three albums before breaking up in 1987.
In 1988, Danzig launched his solo career with the release of his self-titled debut album. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 57 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Danzig has released ten studio albums, with his most recent, Black Laden Crown, being released in 2017. He has also appeared in a number of films, including The Crow (1994) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994).
