Gary Mackay-Steven is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen. He has also played for Liverpool, Fulham, Celtic and Airdrieonians.
Mackay-Steven was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on 22 February 1991. He is the son of former professional footballer Gordon Mackay-Steven, who played for Raith Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic and Cowdenbeath. His mother is a primary school teacher. He has two older sisters. Mackay-Steven was educated at Kirkcaldy High School.
Mackay-Steven began his career with Raith Rovers, making his first team debut in 2007. He moved to Liverpool in 2010, but never made a first team appearance for the club. He had loan spells with Fulham and Airdrieonians before joining Celtic in 2015. He won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup with Celtic in his first season with the club. He left Celtic in 2019 to join Aberdeen.
Mackay-Steven has represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 level. He made his senior debut for Scotland in 2014.
