Eleanor Coppola is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. She is best known for her work on the films The Godfather Part III (1990), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), and Marie Antoinette (2006).
Born in San Francisco, California, on May 4, 1933, Coppola is the daughter of Italia (née Pennino) and Francis Ford Coppola, Sr. She has three siblings: August Coppola, Talia Shire, and Carmine Coppola. She was educated at the Santa Rosa Junior College and the University of California, Berkeley.
Coppola began her career in the film industry working as an assistant director on Roger Corman’s The Terror (1963). She made her directorial debut with the short film You’re a Big Girl Now (1966). She went on to direct the features Finian’s Rainbow (1968) and The Godfather Part III (1990).
Coppola has been married to director Francis Ford Coppola since 1963. They have three children: Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola, and Gian-Carlo Coppola.
