Brown’s first major television role was as a VJ on MTV’s flagship show, MTV Video Music Awards. Brown quickly became one of the most popular VJs on MTV, hosting her own show, Downtown Julie Brown’s World Dance Party, and appearing as a correspondent on other shows such as MTV News. Brown also appeared in a number of music videos, including Madonna’s “Material Girl” and Duran Duran’s “Notorious.”

In 1992, Brown left MTV to pursue a career in acting. She appeared in a number of films, including The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) and Spy Hard (1996). Brown also had a recurring role on the television series Married… with Children (1991-1997).
