Charlie Brooks (born May 15, 1981) is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his role as Dr. Gregory House on the Fox medical drama House (2004–2012), for which he received a Golden Globe Award in 2006 and an Emmy Award in 2007. He has also appeared in the films The Omen (2006), Smokin’ Aces (2007), and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009).

Early Life

Charlie Brooks was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Barbara (née Keiser), a homemaker, and William Brooks, a former Allentown police chief. He has two older sisters, Lisa and Julie. Brooks was raised in a Catholic household and attended Catholic schools, including Allentown Central Catholic High School, where he played football and was a member of the drama club. He graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2003.

Career

Brooks made his television debut in 2003 with a guest appearance on the NBC medical drama ER. He appeared in a number of other television shows and films before landing the role of Dr. Gregory House on the Fox medical drama House in 2004. For his performance on House, Brooks won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama in 2006 and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2007. He appeared in the films The Omen (2006), Smokin’ Aces (2007), and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). In 2010, Brooks directed and produced the short film Room 302.

In 2012, Brooks announced that he was leaving House after eight seasons. His final episode aired on May 21, 2012. In 2014, Brooks starred as Dr. James Wilson in the CBS procedural drama series Elementary. He has also directed episodes of Elementary and the Amazon Prime Video series Bosch.

Personal Life

Brooks has been married to actress Jennifer Morrison since 2010. They have two children together.
