Carlos Mena is a Mexican tenor who has had an active career in operatic performances since the early 1990s.
Born in Mexico City, Mena studied music at the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico and later at the University of Houston. He made his professional debut in 1992 as the title role in Giacomo Puccini’s Edgar.
Mena has gone on to perform leading roles in a number of operas, including Verdi’s Don Carlos, Rossini’s La Cenerentola, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. He has also sung at many of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, such as La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, and the Royal Opera House.
In addition to his operatic work, Mena has also been active as a recitalist and concert singer. He has given performances throughout Europe, the United States, and Mexico.
Mena’s recordings include Verdi’s Requiem, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and a number of solo albums.
Mena is married to Mexican soprano María José Montiel. The couple have two children.
