Brian Dunkleman is an American actor, comedian, and television personality. He is best known for co-hosting the first season of the reality television series American Idol with Ryan Seacrest.
Dunkleman was born in Rochester, New York, on August 22, 1974. He is the son of Barbara (née Hirsch) and Kenneth Dunkleman. His father was an insurance salesman and his mother was a homemaker. He has two older sisters, Karen and Amy.
Dunkleman attended Gates Chili High School, where he was a member of the drama club. He then studied acting at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
Dunkleman’s acting career began in the early 2000s. He had guest roles on television shows such as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, The King of Queens, and Yes, Dear. In 2002, he co-starred in the short-lived sitcom That ’80s Show.
In 2002, Dunkleman was selected to co-host the first season of American Idol with Ryan Seacrest. He left the show after one season and was replaced by Seacrest for the remainder of the series.
After American Idol, Dunkleman had guest roles on television shows such as CSI: Miami and Without a Trace. He also appeared in the films Slackers (2002) and Kicking & Screaming (2005).
In 2006, Dunkleman co-hosted the Fox reality television series Skating with Celebrities. The following year, he hosted the game show Your Big Break.
From 2008 to 2009, Dunkleman was a regular panelist on the G4 television series Attack of the Show!.
In 2010, Dunkleman co-hosted the short-lived reality television series The Ex-Wives Club with Marla Maples.
Dunkleman has also worked as a stand-up comedian. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Last Comic Standing.
Dunkleman has been married twice. His first marriage was to Angela Maurer, with whom he has two sons, Jackson and Dylan. His second marriage is to Kristin Olsen, with whom he has a daughter, Harper.
