Peyton was born in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. His parents are both teachers. He has two older sisters. Peyton attended Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he studied English and philosophy.
Peyton began his career working on various television shows, including the Canadian series Lexx and the American series Jeremiah. He made his feature film debut with the direct-to-video release Alien Abduction (2005).
Peyton’s breakout film was the live-action/animated hybrid Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010). The film was a box office success, grossing over $100 million worldwide.
