Albert II, Prince of Monaco, was born on March 14, 1958, in the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. He is the only son of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, and Grace Kelly. He has two sisters, Caroline, Princess of Hanover, and Stéphanie. He was educated at the Lycee Albert Premier in Monaco and the Ampleforth College in England. He then attended the University of Paris, where he studied political science.
He began his career in the early 1980s working for various banks in London and New York. In 1982, he was appointed as a counsellor to the Monegasque embassy in Paris. In 1986, he became the director of public works and environment. In 1995, he was made the captain general of the Monegasque army.
He has been married twice. His first marriage was to American actress Grace Jones in 1986. They divorced in 1999. He married his second wife, Charlene Wittstock, in 2011. They have two children together: Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco, and Gabriella, Princess of Monaco.
