Terry Porter (born May 29, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After his playing career, he coached the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns.

Porter was born in Detroit, Michigan. His father, Terry Porter Sr., was a former basketball player at the University of Detroit. His mother, Theresa, was a schoolteacher. He has three brothers and two sisters.

Porter attended John Marshall High School in Detroit. He played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He was named a Division III All-American in 1985.

Porter was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA draft. He played for the Trail Blazers for eight seasons. He was named to the NBA All-Star team in 1991 and 1992. He was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1993. He played for the Timberwolves for six seasons. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1999. He played for the Spurs for two seasons. He was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in 2001. He played for the Hawks for one season. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2002. He played for the Pistons for two seasons. He retired from playing in 2003.

Porter began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2003. He was hired as the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2007. He was fired from that position in 2009. He was hired as the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers in 2009. He was fired from that position in 2012. He was hired as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns in 2013. He became the interim head coach of the Suns in 2014. He was not retained as the head coach after that season.
