Susan Richardson is an American actress, best known for her role as Samantha Jackson on the ABC sitcom Eight Is Enough. She was born on October 23, 1947 in New York City, the daughter of Sylvia (née Rabinowitz) and Benjamin Richardson. Her father was a businessman and her mother was a homemaker. She has two older sisters, Barbara and Beverly. Richardson was raised in the Jewish faith. She attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City.
After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Richardson made her television debut in an episode of The Odd Couple in 1971. She guest-starred on several popular television shows in the 1970s, including The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Charlie’s Angels. In 1977, she landed the role of Samantha Jackson on Eight Is Enough. The show was a ratings success and ran for five seasons.
Richardson appeared in all 114 episodes of the series. After the show ended, she guest-starred on several television shows and made occasional television movie appearances. In the 1990s, she retired from acting and became a real estate agent. Richardson has been married three times. Her first husband was actor Gary Lockwood, whom she married in 1969.
The couple divorced in 1971. Her second husband was businessman Ronald Goldman, whom she married in 1977. The couple divorced in 1982. Her third husband is real estate developer Steven Udvar-Hazy, whom she married in 1985. The couple has two children together.
