Sendhil Ramamurthy is an Indian-American actor. He is best known for his roles as Mohinder Suresh in the NBC science fiction drama Heroes and Jai Wilcox in the USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs.
Ramamurthy was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Tamil parents, Dr. V.G. Ramamurthy and Shanthi Ramamurthy, both immigrants from India. He has two younger sisters, Pallavi and Padma. He was raised in San Antonio, Texas.
Ramamurthy attended Stanford University, where he was a member of the Stanford Shakespeare Society and the Stanford improv group, Toybox. He graduated with a degree in English and Creative Writing.
Ramamurthy’s first professional acting role was in the 2003 off-Broadway play Love’s Labour’s Lost. He made his television debut in 2004, guest-starring on an episode of the medical drama ER.
In 2006, Ramamurthy was cast as Mohinder Suresh, a genetics professor with the ability to absorb the abilities of others, in the NBC science fiction drama Heroes. He appeared in all four seasons of the show, from 2006 to 2010.
In 2010, Ramamurthy began appearing as Jai Wilcox, a CIA operative, in the USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs. He appeared in all five seasons of the show, from 2010 to 2014.
Ramamurthy has also had guest roles on several television shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, Psych, and Numb3rs.
Ramamurthy is married to actress Olga Sosnovska. They have two children together.
