Scott Hamilton is an American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist. He was born on August 28, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio. His parents are Dorothy and Ernest Hamilton. He has two brothers, Steven and Gregory. Hamilton began skating at the age of nine. His coach, Frank Carroll, helped him develop his skating skills. Hamilton won his first national championship in 1977.

He went on to win four more national titles and four World Championships. In 1984, he won the Olympic gold medal in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. After the Olympics, Hamilton toured with Stars on Ice and appeared in several television specials. In 1990, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent surgery and radiation therapy. The cancer went into remission and Hamilton resumed his skating career.

In 2001, he was inducted into the U. S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Hamilton currently works as a skating commentator for NBC Sports. He is married to Tracie Ruiz and they have two sons, Aidan and Max. ..
