Sambueza was born on 16 February 1984 in Rosario, Santa Fe, to Rubén and Gladys Sambueza. He has two brothers, Pablo and Emanuel. Sambueza’s father was a professional footballer who played for Newell’s Old Boys, Rosario Central and Talleres de Córdoba.
