Naomi Judd is an American country music singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known for her work as one-half of the duo The Judds, which she formed with her daughter Wynonna Judd. The Judds were one of the most successful country music acts of the 1980s, selling more than 20 million records and winning five Grammy Awards.

Naomi was born Diana Ellen Judd on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Kentucky. She was the eldest of three children born to Charles Glen Judd and his wife, Pauline Judd. Naomi’s father was a gas station attendant and her mother was a housewife. Naomi’s siblings are Wynonna Judd and Cimone Judd.

Naomi was raised in a strict Baptist household and was not allowed to listen to secular music or watch television. She was a talented singer from a young age and would often sing at her church. Naomi graduated from high school in 1964 and then attended beauty school. She married Michael Ciminella in 1966 and had two children with him, Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd. The couple divorced in 1972.

In 1979, Naomi and Wynonna began performing together as The Judds. The duo released their self-titled debut album in 1983 and had their first number-one hit with the single “Mama He’s Crazy.” The Judds went on to release six more studio albums and had nineteen number-one singles on the country charts. The duo retired from performing in 1991 due to Naomi’s battle with hepatitis C.

In 1992, Naomi wrote her autobiography, Love Can Build a Bridge, which was turned into a television movie starring Ashley Judd as Naomi. Naomi has also appeared in several films and television shows, including an episode of the television series Touched by an Angel.

Naomi has been married three times. Her first marriage was to Michael Ciminella from 1966 to 1972. She married Larry Strickland in 1989 and divorced him in 1994. She married Randy Wolfe in 1996 and they divorced in 2000. Naomi has three children, Ashley Judd, Wynonna Judd, and Elijah Judd.

As of 2021, Naomi Judd’s net worth is $20 million. She has earned her wealth from her successful career as a country music singer and songwriter.
