Lalaine was born in Burbank, California, on July 3, 1987. Her parents are of Filipino descent. She has two older sisters. Lalaine was homeschooled for her early education.
Lalaine’s acting career began when she was cast as a guest star on the television series General Hospital. She went on to appear in a number of television shows and movies, including the Disney Channel original movie Cadet Kelly. In 2002, she was cast as Miranda Sanchez on the Nickelodeon series Lizzie McGuire. The show ran for two seasons and ended in 2004.
In 2006, Lalaine released her debut album, Inside Story. The album peaked at #29 on the Billboard 200 chart.

She will reprise her role of Miranda Sanchez from "Lizzie McGuire" for the show's spin off series "Stevie Sanchez" according to her online journal. The show was to have focused on Miranda's little sister Stevie. The pilot episode was shot, but the series was never picked up. [February 2005]

Both her parents were born in the Philippines. Her mom Lilia Paras is from Batangas, and her dad is from Pampanga.
Lalaine is the youngest of four siblings, Marian, Francisco and Cristina, she also has two nephews and a niece. She resided in the Philippines from 1990 till 1995. Her sister Cristina had to beg her Mom to drive her to her singing coach for vocal training in 1997, which she paid for in three months. It was then that Lalaine was discovered and performed as Little Cosette in "Les Miserables" Broadway Production for almost a year.
