Scott Thomas made her film debut in The French Lieutenant’s Woman (1981), for which she won a BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She went on to star in films such as A Handful of Dust (1988), The English Patient (1996), The Horse Whisperer (1998), Gosford Park (2001), and Darkest Hour (2017). She has also appeared in the James Bond films GoldenEye (1995) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).
Scott Thomas has been nominated for five Academy Awards, winning Best Supporting Actress for The English Patient (1996). She has also won a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Scott Thomas was married to actor Kenneth Branagh from 1989 to 1995. She has been in a relationship with French businessman François Olivennes since 2003. They have two children: Hannah (born 2004) and Joseph (born 2007).
