Julius Boros was born on March 3, 1920, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His parents were of Hungarian descent. Julius had two brothers and one sister. His early education was in the Bridgeport public school system. Julius began playing golf at the age of eight. He caddied at the local country club and later worked there as a greenskeeper. Julius Boros turned professional in 1940 and joined the PGA Tour in 1942.

Julius Boros won eighteen PGA Tour events, including three major championships. He won the U.S. Open in 1952 and 1963, and the PGA Championship in 1968. Julius Boros was also a member of three Ryder Cup teams (1953, 1957, and 1963). He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1982.

Julius Boros retired from competitive golf in 1976. He died on May 28, 1994, at the age of 74.
