Julie Nixon Eisenhower was born on July 5, 1948, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Richard Nixon, 37th president of the United States, and his wife, Pat Nixon. Julie has two brothers, Donald and Edward. She was educated at Whiteman School in Washington, D.C., and Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, from which she graduated in 1970 with a degree in English.
Julie met David Eisenhower, grandson of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, while they were both students at Smith College. They were married on December 22, 1968, and have two daughters, Jennie and Melanie.
From 1974 to 1976, Julie worked as an assistant editor at McCall’s magazine. She then became a public-relations consultant. In 1988, she wrote a book about her father, entitled “My Father, Richard Nixon.”
