Joel Murray is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, and director. He was born on April 17, 1963 in Wilmette, Illinois, to parents Margo (née Rothman), a dancer, and John Murray, a businessman. He has four siblings: John, Brian, Neil, and Elizabeth. Murray attended The New Trier High School West in Illinois and then went on to study at the DePaul University in Chicago.

Murray’s first acting role was in the 1984 film Ghostbusters as a security guard. He has since appeared in over 100 films and television shows. Some of his most notable roles include Bob Wiley in What About Bob?, Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, Phil Weston in Kingpin, and Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski. He has also done voice work for animated films and television shows such as The Simpsons, Futurama, and Adventure Time.

Murray has been married twice. His first marriage was to Eliza Coyle from 1987 to 1990. They have one child together, Cooper Murray. His second marriage was to Jennifer Butler from 1997 to 2014. They have two children together, Daisy Murray and Liam Murray.
