Ian Beattie is an actor from Northern Ireland. He is best known for his role as Ser Meryn Trant in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Beattie was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on October 30, 1965. He is the youngest of three children. His father was a police officer and his mother was a homemaker. Beattie’s early education was at Belfast Royal Academy. He later studied at the Queen’s University of Belfast, where he received a degree in English literature.

Beattie’s acting career began in the early 1990s. He has appeared in numerous television shows and films. Some of his most notable roles have been in the films The Jackal (1997), Michael Collins (1996), and The Boxer (1997). Beattie has also appeared in the television series The Bill, Casualty, and Holby City.

In 2011, Beattie began appearing in the HBO series Game of Thrones. He has appeared in all eight seasons of the show. His character, Ser Meryn Trant, is a member of the Kingsguard. Beattie has received critical acclaim for his performance on the show.

Beattie is married to actress Lisa Dwan. The couple has two children together.
