Garrett Temple is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the LSU Tigers.

Temple was born on May 8, 1986, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is the son of Marcia (née Garrett) and John Temple. His mother is a retired schoolteacher and his father is a retired police officer. He has two older sisters, Janice and Jennifer. Temple attended University Laboratory School, where he played basketball and football. He was a three-time All-State selection in basketball and was named Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2004.

Temple played college basketball for the LSU Tigers from 2004 to 2009. He was a four-year starter and helped lead the Tigers to the 2006 NCAA Tournament. He was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team in 2008 and 2009. He graduated from LSU with a degree in kinesiology.

Temple was not selected in the 2009 NBA draft but he joined the Houston Rockets for the 2009 NBA Summer League. He later signed with the Rockets and spent the majority of the 2009–10 season with their NBA Development League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He made his NBA debut on April 13, 2010, and appeared in four games for the Rockets that season.

Temple spent the next two seasons with the Sacramento Kings before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013. He was traded again in 2014, this time to the Charlotte Hornets. He signed with the Washington Wizards in 2015 and spent four seasons with the team. He signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.

Temple has represented the United States national team on several occasions. He won a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and a gold medal at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship.

Temple is married to Andrea Temple. The couple has two sons, Garrett Jr. and Gavin.
