Eddie Clarke was born on October 5, 1950, in Hackney, London, England. His parents were Jack and Rose Clarke. He had two brothers, Terry and Colin. Eddie Clarke was educated at Hackney Downs School. He began playing guitar when he was 14 years old.

Clarke’s first band was called The Nova Express. The band released one single, “I Can’t Stand It”, in 1966. Clarke then joined a band called The Outcasts. The Outcasts released two singles, “Just Another Teenage Rebel” and “Baby Please Don’t Go”.
In 1976, Clarke joined a band called Motörhead. Motörhead released their first album, Motörhead, in 1977. The album reached number 24 on the UK charts. Motörhead’s second album, Overkill, was released in 1979. The album reached number 12 on the UK charts.
Motörhead’s third album, Ace of Spades, was released in 1980. The album reached number four on the UK charts. Ace of Spades was Motörhead’s most successful album. It was certified gold in the UK and platinum in the US.
Clarke left Motörhead in 1982. He formed a new band called Fastway. Fastway’s first album, Fastway, was released in 1983. The album reached number 33 on the UK charts.
In 1987, Clarke rejoined Motörhead. Motörhead’s ninth album, Orgasmatron, was released in 1986. The album reached number six on the UK charts.
Motörhead’s tenth album, Rock ‘n’ Roll, was released in 1987. The album reached number five on the UK charts.
Motörhead’s eleventh album, 1916, was released in 1991. The album reached number three on the UK charts.
Motörhead’s twelfth album, March ör Die, was released in 1992. The album reached number two on the UK charts.
Clarke left Motörhead again in 1993. He formed a new band called Fastway. Fastway’s second album, Trick or Treat, was released in 1993. The album reached number 42 on the UK charts.

Clarke left Motörhead again in 2005. He has not been active in the music industry since then.
