They began working together on large-scale public art projects, such as “Wrapped Reichstag” in Berlin and “The Gates” in New York City. Christo and Jeanne-Claude were known for their use of fabric and other materials to create temporary works of art.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude were married for 41 years, until Jeanne-Claude’s death in 2009. They had no children.
