Chris Gascoyne is an English actor, best known for his role as Peter Barlow in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street.

Born in Manchester on 17 October 1965, Gascoyne is the youngest of three children. His father was a carpenter and his mother a housewife. He was educated at St Bede’s College, a Catholic grammar school in Manchester, and then studied for a degree in drama at the University of Manchester.

Gascoyne’s first professional acting role was in the BBC television series Our Friends in the North (1996). He went on to appear in a number of other television programmes, including The Bill (1998), Casualty (1999) and Holby City (2000). In 2000, he was cast as Peter Barlow in Coronation Street, a role he has played continuously for over 15 years.

In 2006, Gascoyne appeared in the BBC drama serial The Line of Beauty. He has also appeared in the films 24 Hour Party People (2002) and Vera Drake (2004).

Gascoyne has been married twice. His first marriage, to Sarah Moyle, ended in divorce. He married his second wife, Diane Fletcher, in 2011. The couple have two children.
