Cam Brainard is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of the online retailer Zappos.com and the CEO of the shoe company Zappos.com, Inc.
Brainard was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 12, 1976, to parents who were both accountants. He has two older sisters. He was raised in a middle-class neighborhood and attended public schools.
Brainard was an avid athlete in his youth, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America. In high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and the student government.
After graduating from high school, Brainard attended Stanford University, where he studied business and economics. He graduated with honors in 1998.
After graduation, Brainard worked for a few different companies, including Oracle Corporation and Microsoft Corporation. In 1999, he co-founded Zappos.com, an online retailer of shoes and other footwear.
Zappos.com was acquired by Amazon.com in 2009 for $1.2 billion. Brainard remained with the company as CEO of Zappos.com, Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon.com.
