Bruce Mitchell (born October 18, 1961) is an American retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his work with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) under the ring name Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.

Mitchell was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He was raised in nearby Somerville. His father was a barber, from which his ring name was derived. Mitchell has three brothers and two sisters. He attended Somerville High School, where he played football and wrestled. After graduating from high school in 1979, he began working as a barber.

Mitchell began his professional wrestling career in 1982. He wrestled in various independent promotions in the New England area. In 1984, he began wrestling for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He wrestled under his real name and as “Dirty” Dan Spivey. In 1985, he began using the ring name Brutus Beefcake. He formed a tag team with Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, known as The Dream Team. They won the WWF World Tag Team Championship in 1986.

In 1988, Beefcake suffered a parasailing accident that nearly killed him. He underwent extensive facial reconstruction surgery and was out of action for nearly two years. He returned to the WWF in 1990 and won the WWF Intercontinental Championship in 1991. He left the WWF in 1992 and wrestled in various independent promotions until his retirement in 2002.

Mitchell has made several cameo appearances in film and television. He made his film debut in the 1989 film No Holds Barred, which starred Hulk Hogan. He has also appeared in episodes of the television series Married… with Children, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and The Simpsons.

Mitchell currently resides in Florida with his wife and two children. His net worth is estimated to be $1.5 million.
