William “Bill” Mumy, Jr. is an American actor, musician, singer, songwriter, and comedian. He is best known for his roles as Lennier in the science fiction television series Babylon 5 and as Will Robinson in the television series Lost in Space. He has also appeared in a number of films and television series, including The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Criminal Minds.
Mumy was born in San Gabriel, California, on February 1, 1954, to Muriel Gertrude (née Brown) and William Edward Mumy, Sr. He has two siblings: a sister, Amy, and a brother, Christopher. Mumy was raised in a musical family; his father was a big band musician and his mother was a singer. He began playing the guitar at the age of six and soon began writing his own songs.
Mumy’s first acting role was in the television series The Twilight Zone, in which he played the role of Billy Batson in the episode “The Mighty Casey.” He also appeared in an episode of The Fugitive. In 1965, he played the role of Will Robinson in the television series Lost in Space. The following year, he appeared in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
In the early 1990s, Mumy began working on Babylon 5, a science fiction television series. He played the role of Lennier, a member of the Minbari race. The series ran for five seasons and was very popular with fans.
In recent years, Mumy has appeared in a number of films and television series, including Criminal Minds and The Big Bang Theory. He has also released several albums with his band, The Lennie Niehaus Quintet.
