Barbara Sinatra (née Marx; born December 10, 1927) is an American socialite and philanthropist. She is the widow of singer Frank Sinatra, and the mother of singer Nancy Sinatra.

Born in Bosworth, Missouri, Barbara Marx was the only child of Gladys (née Hull) and Charles Henry Marx. Her father was a successful businessman, and her mother was a homemaker. She had a happy childhood, and was raised in a Christian home.

Barbara attended high school in Los Angeles, and then went on to study at the University of Southern California. She met Frank Sinatra in 1940, when she was just 13 years old, and they married in 1976.

The couple had two children together: Nancy (born 1940) and Frank Jr. (born 1944). They also adopted Barbara’s daughter, Tina (born 1948).

Barbara and Frank were very close, and their marriage was very happy. They were often seen out together, attending social events and charity functions.

Barbara is a philanthropist, and has been involved in many charitable organizations over the years. She is a patron of the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center, which provides counseling and therapy services to abused and neglected children.

She is also a board member of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, which provides arts education to underprivileged children.
