Annie Potts is an American actress, voice actress, director, and producer. She is known for her roles in the television series Designing Women, Ghostbusters, and Toy Story.

Potts was born on October 28, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, to parents Margaret Caroline (née Mitchell) and William Thomas Potts. She has two sisters, Mary and Nancy. Potts was raised in Franklin, Kentucky. She attended Franklin-Simpson High School and then studied acting at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

Potts began her career in the 1970s with appearances on the television series The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. She made her film debut in the 1977 film Corvette Summer. She later had roles in the films Halloween II (1981), Ghost Busters (1984), Pretty in Pink (1986), Who’s Harry Crumb? (1989), and Toy Story (1995).

Potts has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for her work on the television series Designing Women. She has also been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and four Satellite Awards.

Potts has been married three times. She was first married to Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Potter from 1977 to 1983. She was then married to Bruce Abbott from 1987 to 1994. She is currently married to Mark Gordon. She has three children: Clay, Emma, and Olivia.

Potts is 5 feet 4 inches tall and has blue eyes.
