Andy Kindler is an American stand-up comedian, actor, voice actor, writer, and producer. He is known for his appearances on the television shows Everybody Loves Raymond and Maron, and for his work as a writer and producer on the animated series Home Movies.
Kindler was born in New York City, New York, on August 24, 1966. He is the son of Judy (née Cohen) and Jerry Kindler. His father was a Jewish immigrant from Poland who worked as a taxi driver and later as a postal worker. His mother was born to a Jewish family in the United States. Kindler has two older sisters, Mindy and Marci.
He was raised in a Jewish household in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn. He attended P.S. 206 elementary school and John Dewey High School. He later attended the State University of New York at Purchase, where he studied theater.
Kindler began his comedy career performing at open mic nights in New York City. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a writer and producer on the television series Home Movies. He also made guest appearances on the television shows Everybody Loves Raymond and Maron.
In addition to his work in television, Kindler has also appeared in the films Punching the Clown (2009) and I Am Comic (2010). He has released two comedy albums, I Wish I Was Bitter (2007) and Hooray for America! (2010).
