Alex Greenwald is an American musician, actor, and record producer. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Phantom Planet. Greenwald has also appeared in several films and television shows, including Donnie Darko, The O.C., and Californication.

Greenwald was born on October 9, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. His parents are Lila and Al Greenwald. He has two sisters, Lauren and Lindsay. Greenwald was raised in a Jewish household and attended Hebrew school. He graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in 1997.

Greenwald began his music career as a member of the band Phantom Planet in 1994. The band achieved success with their album The Guest in 2002. They are best known for their song “California”, which was used as the theme song for the television show The O.C.

Greenwald has also appeared in several films and television shows. His film credits include Donnie Darko, The O.C., and Californication. Greenwald has also appeared in episodes of the television shows Entourage and One Tree Hill.

Greenwald is married to actress Brie Larson. They have one child together, a daughter named Rayanne.
