Alan Silvestri is an American composer and conductor who has worked on some of the most iconic scores in film history. He was born in New York City on March 26, 1950, to an Italian-American family. His father was a jazz trumpeter and his mother was a singer. Silvestri took up the piano at an early age and showed a natural talent for music. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film scoring.
Silvestri’s first big break came when he was hired to score the 1984 film The Natural. His work on that film caught the attention of director Robert Zemeckis, who would go on to collaborate with Silvestri on some of his most famous films, including the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away. Silvestri has also composed the scores for such popular films as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Predator, and The Avengers. In total, Silvestri has been nominated for two Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards.
Silvestri is married to Sandra Silvestri, with whom he has two children. He has a net worth of $40 million.
