Sophie Marceau is a French actress, director, screenwriter, and author. She is known for her roles in films such as La Boum, L’Étudiante, and Braveheart. She has also directed two films, including La Vieille Maison de Monsieur Hire. Marceau was born on November 17, 1966 in Paris, France. Her parents are Simone Morisset, a shopkeeper, and Serge Marceau, a truck driver. She has two sisters, Laurence and Muriel.
Marceau attended the Cours Florent drama school and the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique. She made her film debut in La Boum (1980), which was a box office success in France. She went on to star in several films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including L’Étudiante (1988), Les Liaisons dangereuses (1989), and Braveheart (1995). Marceau has also directed two films, La Vieille Maison de Monsieur Hire (1989) and Pleasure (1996). She has written two novels, A Promise of Love (2003) and The Life of Sophie Marceau (2011).
Marceau is divorced from actor Andrzej Zulawski, with whom she has a son, Vincent. She is currently in a relationship with actor Christopher Lambert.
