Roni Size (born as Ryan Williams on 29 October 1969) is a British drum and bass producer and DJ. He is the founder and leader of Reprazent, a drum and bass band that won the Mercury Music Prize in 1997. He has also worked with a number of other artists, including Method Man, Busta Rhymes, and Maxi Jazz of Faithless.
Size was born in Bristol, England, to Jamaican parents. He began his musical career as a breakdancer and graffiti artist. He later became interested in hip hop and breakbeat music. He started producing music in 1987, using a Commodore Amiga computer. In 1992, he founded Reprazent with fellow Bristolian DJ Krust. The group’s debut album, New Forms, was released in 1997 and won the Mercury Music Prize.
Size has also released a number of solo albums, including Touching Down (2000), Return to V (2003), and Take It as It Comes (2006). In addition to his work with Reprazent and as a solo artist, Size has also remixed tracks for a number of other artists, including Michael Jackson, Madonna, and The Prodigy.
