Rodney Sacks was born in South Africa in 1953. He is the son of a Jewish couple, Solly and Sylvia Sacks. He has two older sisters, Judy and Ronnie. His family moved to England when he was four years old. He was educated at a Jewish school in London and then at Manchester Grammar School. He went on to study economics at the University of Manchester.

Sacks began his career in the food industry, working for a company that imported South African food products into the UK. He later set up his own company, which imported and distributed South African wines. In 1987, he bought a controlling stake in Monster Energy, a small California-based energy drink company. He transformed the company into a global brand, and it is now one of the most successful energy drink companies in the world.
Sacks has a net worth of $4.3 billion. He is married to Beverly Sacks, with whom he has three children.
